The Move and the New House

Oakley and Ry playing in the snow

Here's the family in front of our town sign.

Kobe was helping his old man shread some papers when he decided the noise was just too much to handle. Problem solved----Bose Headphones!

Lucky us! The "Army Transportation Representative" made a surprise visit to our home to see how things were going the day the movers were here. Things were all good until she got to the garage. She was looking to see if our outdoor items were clean enough to ship out of country. After she wiped her finger inside our grill, turned our lawnmower upsidedown and looked in the grooves of our bike tires, we failed the test. So with the tempature outside below freezing we got to pull everything out into the backyard, hook the hose back up and scrub everything squeaky clean. Supposidly, there can not be one blade of grass, one speck of dirt, or one ounce of grease in anything. According to our new best friend, if dirt from Germany makes it's way to America, that dirt can ruin the crops in America! And that my friend is the Army for you.

Micah and Oakley in front of the moving truck. It took the movers 2 days to pack everything up. Both of the days it snowed off and on all day.

That is our couch on the right side of the picture. They disassembled it and covered it in bubble wrap. Eeeek!

Here's a picture of one of the movers (he is actually from Arknsas!) These guys would take a fat thick strap, wrap it around 2-3 boxes, throw it over their shoulders and carry it out to the truck.

We think the guy inside the truck is wanted by the FBI. Anytime we had the camera pointed at him he would hide behind the closest thing. He is probably in his early 60's and could lift up the moving truck if he wanted to. Anytime we would talk to him he would mumble something back. We were never able to figure out what language he was speaking!

Well, unless we ask, please keep your comments, opinions, thoughts, ect to yourself! Ryan and I have been losing sleep over the looks of our new home. All I can say is that it looked alot better on paper then it does actually built! The 2 brown areas you see on the front are called "shake shingles"........ we are waiting for our builder to return our call to see what our options are on the matter!

The cabinets were the thing I was the most nervous about from the beginning. Since I had to mix the stain color from scratch at the paint store on a small square piece of wood, I had been doubting my final decision on the stain. But it is just what we were wanting. The thing we weren't expecting were the sunshine yellow walls! Yikes!! Somehow the paint we picked out did not end up on the walls. We picked out a tan color for the whole house and a sage green for the bathrooms. What we got was sunshine yellow throughout the house and PINK in the bathrooms!!! Again, we are waiting for our builder to return our call!

This is looking out from in the kitchen.

This is part of the front room. Hello Yellow!

Guys, I am laughing out loud at entirety of this post... first of all, Pink is Ryan's favorite color, so I don't get what the problem is there. If you are worried about your masculinity... don't Ry... you went to Iraq, so we all know you are a man above all men. Second of all, I love the new house. The kitchen is great! I can't wait to come and see you guys there. I am invited, right? The great thing about visiting you in Alabama is that I won't waste an entire day sleeping after I come see you like I did in Germany. Oops!

Hurry home please!
